We are a start-up privately owned beachfront resort located in Pulau Besar, a private island just about 30 minutes off Mersing. Bayu Lestari is a family-owned resort managed by Ibu Rose and her five children. Ibu Rose dreamt with a place where people could forget about their worries and work-life while enjoy nature and experience a truly Malaysian homestay. She thought Pulau Besar would be the ideal place to start building her dream.
Located within the protected Sultan Iskandar Marine Park in Mersing, Pulau Besar is an idyllic island where you can find crystal clear water and white sand beaches. Started operation in early 2018, the resort pride itself in offering 15 private villas to its guests ensuring comfort and privacy. At its maximum capacity, the resort could accommodate up to 110 guests at one time. The only way in to the island is via private boat arranged by the resort.
Pulau Besar is an island located in Mersing District, Johor, Malaysia. The majority of our guests choose to drive from Kuala Lumpur or Singapore.
From KL, take the North-South Expressway, turn off at Ayer Hitam, head for Kluang then onto Mersing. From Singapore, cross over to Johor Bahru via the Woodlands Causeway. Travel 40 KM northeast towards Kota Tinggi. Once past Kota Tinggi, continue heading north for about 90 KM until you reach Mersing.
For international visitors, both Singapore and Kuala Lumpur are central hubs for Southeast Asia, and are easily accessible from most big cities. There’s 2 options for international visitors, either take a flight to Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) or take a flight to Changi Airport, Singapore then to Senai International Airport, Johor Bahru, Malaysia.
Once arrived at Mersing, look-up “Mersing Jetty Interconnection” on maps. Secured car parking facilities are available at our Mersing front office.
The booking office will contact guests a few days in advance of their stay to confirm the boat transfer schedule. We would respectfully request that guests keep to their scheduled boat transfer time in order to ensure prompt service for all guest to and from the island.
